Project Centre for Therapeutic Riding

IMG_3775.JPG

The first professional center for equine-assisted activities which will be helping people with disabilities with focus on children. Let's build it together!

This project aims to create a safe relaxing environment for disabled children and their families. We would like to build a horse therapy center for residential stays and an equestrian riding arena. The children will attend therapeutic riding sessions daily, bond with horses, and enjoy beautiful surroundings. Their parents will have time to get away from the daily routine and experience respite. Our organization will provide all that to the disabled children and their families. In a nutshell the project will include:

  • Rooms for accommodation

  • Special riding arena.

  • Capacity of 7 children assisted by one parent.

  • FREE therapeutic riding sessions, food, and accommodation.

  • Project includes a business plan for commercial activity in order to ensure continuation of the project.

At the horse therapy center we will provide free residential stays for disabled children and their families of 3 to 7 days, on the outskirts of Sofia, Bulgaria. The building will have at least six private rooms with shared bathrooms, a common area, and a kitchen. There will be a professional riding arena. The children will be able to attend therapy sessions daily, doing exercises on the back of a horse, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Their parents will have time to get away from the daily problems and routine.

Being with horses and doing specifically designed exercises is proven to have a long-term positive effect on many physical and mental disorders. The children gain a sense of independence, a chance they rarely have under the pressure of a disability. The parents benefit from respite. For therapy horses our organization has specifically chosen the American breeds of Paint and Quarter Horses due to their friendly and calm nature. That makes them especially suitable for children with disabilities.

The project needs many supporters. We are confident together we will make it happen.
